Tēnā koe e hoa (Greetings, hello to you friend),
Thank you for your faithful support of your Christian media ministry. You are special and we thank God for you. You are making a difference as God uses your Christian media ministry to move in people’s lives, like he did for Joanne:
"Life FM is a positive influence in my life, for myself and the children. God uses the lyrics of songs to speak to me, to comfort or encourage, right when I need it. After their dad died, in the first year, the only time the children weren’t arguing or fighting, was on Sunday morning during The River... a little respite."
"You make this possible through your support in both prayer and finances. We cannot do it without you. Thank you."
2020, a new year, a new decade, and the opportunities to impact this nation, by showing what it means to be a follower of Jesus Christ, are very exciting.
Earlier this month your Christian media ministry had the privilege of broadcasting from Te Tii Marae at Waitangi, including live coverage of the dawn and interdenominational church services. The theme of the week long broadcast on Shine TV was ‘Kia haere ngatahi i raro i te Atua - Together Under God’ with a focus on prayer, worship and unity.
As part of the focus on prayer, church and ministry leaders from around the country gathered at Waitangi to pray live on air. In addition to this, your Kiwi Christian television network crossed live to an inter-church prayer gathering in Auckland with over 8,000 people collectively praying for the nation. It was a privilege to share these prayers with people across the nation through Shine TV.
The stories shared and the insights gained through these broadcasts were uplifting, encouraging and meaningful. And, they were stories that were not told by other media organisations.
Thank you for being part of this mission to impact lives and to encourage a personal relationship with Christ.
"Very truly I tell you, whoever hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life and will not be judged but has crossed over from death to life" - (John 5:24 NLT).
There are many significant events happening in 2020 that will directly impact our nation. In particular, the General Election and associated referenda. Politics and leading a country are complicated and there are very wide views on what is important and right, even within the Church. Your Christian media ministry’s prayer is that the programmes it broadcasts will enable people to be informed and confident in the decisions they make on election day.
Through you, God has built and sustained your Christian media ministry for over 41 years. The messages of love, hope and grace are as vital for this nation now as they have ever been. Please continue to pray for your Christian media ministry, for the team as they put together the programmes, for the people the programmes reach and for the positive impact in their lives.
As well as the wonderful opportunities your Christian media ministry has in front of it, there are also several challenges. These include continued access to much needed frequencies, particularly for Life FM and Star, and finances. We are incredibly grateful for the generosity of so many but again in this financial year the cost of maintaining the networks has grown faster than our income, leaving us $865,000 in overdraft year to date. Could you please continue to pray for a breakthrough in these areas.
Ma te Atua Koutou e Manaaki e Tiaki i nga wa Katoa (May God bless and watch over you)
Andrew Fraser Chief Executive
PS. Looking to the end of the financial year, Rhema Media is currently operating in overdraft to the tune of around $865,000. Increases in costs, particularly in the areas of programming, transmission facilities and digital media development, have meant our income has not kept pace with costs. Would you prayerfully consider whether you could provide additional financial support at this time?
PPS. Remember the end of the financial year is 31st March 2020. Send any donations so we receive them before then for inclusion in your 2019/20 tax receipt. Remember, it is possible to claim 33.33% of your donations back (see www.ird.govt.nz).
